SUMMARY OF THE PROCEEDINGS

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation by Qari Noor Muhammad followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH) by Mr. Sarwar Hussain Naqshbandi. 

Question Hour:  

Questions relating to Industries and Mines & Minerals Departments were asked. Raja Riaz Ahmed  and Ch. Abdul Ghafoor, Minister for Mines & Minerals (Holding additional charge) and Minister for Industries (Holding additional charge) respectively answered the questions.

Extension In Time Limit For Laying The Reports:-

On the Motion moved by Malik Fiaz Ahmed, the House granted extension up to one month to Standing Committee on Labour and Human Resource for laying its reports on “The In-House Working Women Protection Bill 2010 (Bill No. 12 of 2010)”. 

Adjournment Motions:-

Seven Adjournment Motions were taken up. Five motions moved by Shaikh Allaud Din one regarding earning high profit ratio on the medicines by the pharmaceutical companies, motion regarding distributing 200 acres of forest department to non-deserving people by the District Officer (Revenue), Bhakkar were disposed of, motion regarding growing forest plants in the province, motion regarding renovating Bradlaugh Hall, Retigun Road, motion regarding practicing Urdu language in the government as well as educational institutions, motion moved by Mrs. Amna Ulfat regarding killing of 13-years-old, Afzaal S/O Abdul Aziz by Nanna Gujjar, resident of Muhalla Arban Quarters, near Bilal Pictark Masjid, Singhpura were kept pending, motion moved by Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan regarding selling of property by NFC,allotted by the governments for offices of Nespak and LDA, was kept pending till next session.

The motions were answered by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs.

 

 

Government Business:

General Discussion on Law & Order:

Opening general discussion on law and order, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs said that crime rate has declined in the province and police performance has improved. He said that load shedding has caused unemployment and subsequent increase in street crime. He said that prosecution has also been improved. He stated that changes have been made in the Police Order. He said that acid throwing cases would be tried under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Following members also participated in the discussion: Ch. Aamir Sultan Cheema, Mr. Ijaz Ahmed Khan, Mrs.‏ Samina Khawar Hayat , Ms. Sajida Mir, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Mian Naseer Ahmed, Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed Khan , Mr. Ali Haidar Noor Khan Niazi, Ms. Rifat Sultana Dar, Rao Kashif Rahim Khan and Mrs.‏  Samina Naveed.         

Then, the House was adjourned till 10:00 am on Thursday, October 21, 2010.
