Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, Deputy Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool ﷺ.
Question Hour
Questions relating to Labour & Human Resources Department were asked and Mian Naveed Ali, Parliamentary Secretary for Labour & Human Resources answered the questions and questions relating to Special Education Department were kept pending till next week on the request of Ch Muhammad Shafique, Minister for Special Education. Deputy Speaker reprimanded Secretaries/officers of the concerned departments for not attending the Assembly Business despite repeated warnings by the Chair and directed Secretary Assembly to write a letter to the Provincial Chief Executive expressing displeasure of the House over non-serious attitude of the bureaucracy.
Extension in Time Limit for Laying the Reports
On a Motion moved by Ms. Ayesha Javed, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Communication & Works for laying its report on “Starred Question No.8303 asked by Mian Tariq Mehmood, MPA (PP-113)”.
On a Motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Anis Qureshi, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Finance for laying its report on “Starred Question No.7183 asked by Mrs Raheela Anwar, MPA (W-357)”.

Privilege Motion
The Privilege Motion of Mr Inam Ullah Khan Niazi was kept pending till next day because the mover was not present.
Adjournment Motions
Three Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Mian Tariq Mehmood regarding Education Department taking merit policy for granted devised for the appointment of teachers on technical grounds and science teachers are given extra marks by showing them to belong to the native village thus villages and union councils of various candidates has been changed to facilitate them in their appointment, the second Motion moved by Mr Asif Mehmood regarding violation of child labour laws in Faisalabad and administration is unable to stop children working at various places instead of motivating them to go to school and the Motion moved by Ch Amir Sultan Cheema regarding project to construct sub-jails in Gujranwala Division has been flopped and up-gradation/renovation of “Bakhshi Khaney” at Tehsil level in Punjab to declare them as sub-jails to reduce over crowdedness in jails and decrease transportation expenditure accrued on the movement of accused from one to other place, were kept pending till next week.

General Discussion on Food & Agriculture
Mr. Muhammad Naeem Akhtar Khan Bhabha, Minister for Agriculture had initiated the general discussion on Food & Agriculture when the quorum was pointed out at 11:53 a.m. After ringing bells for five minutes, the quorum was incomplete and the House was adjourned for fifteen minutes. After fifteen minutes the quorum was again incomplete. The House was then adjourned at 12:26 p.m. to meet on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.
