Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool ﷺ.

Question Hour

Questions relating to Industries, Commerce & Investment and Prisons Departments were asked and Sheikh Allauddin Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment and Malik Ahmad Yar Hunjra, Minister for Prisons answered the questions.

Privilege Motion

The Privilege Motion moved by Mr. Inam Ullah Khan Niazi regarding posting of Malik Khalid, SHO by I.G. Police Punjab at Harnoli, District Mianwali Sargodha Division, the constituency of the members concerned notwithstanding the directions given to I.G. Police Punjab by Committee on Privileges on the Privilege Motion of the member concerned to transfer SHO to any other Division other than Sargodha Division was referred to the Committee on Privileges.

Adjournment Motions

Three Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Sardar Vickas Hassan Mokal regarding Punjab Auqaf & Religious Affairs Department is suffering annual loss of millions of rupees due to its poor planning and teams deputed to monitor completion of different contracts/agreements are found involved in various financial irregularities and corruption, the second Motion moved by Ms.‏ Shunila Ruth regarding violation of PPRA Rules in various Government Hospitals of Punjab including Services Hospital and Mayo Hospital Lahore, where medicines and X-Ray films are purchased from firms giving higher rates and ignoring firms giving rates on the lower side and the last Motion moved by Dr. Murad Rass regarding expiry of protamine sulphate injections in bulk  worth millions of rupees due to carelessness of Health Department which were purchased for Punjab Institute of Cardiology used to stop bleeding, were kept pending till next week.

Extension in Time Limit for Laying the Reports

On a Motion moved by Mr. Javaid Allouddin Sajid, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Agriculture for laying its reports in respect of the following:

1.         The Punjab Tobacco Vend (Amendment) Bill 2017 (Bill No.9 of 2017) moved by Mrs Faiza Mushtaq, MPA (W-299);

2.         Resolution No.276 moved by Mr Ahmad Khan Bhacher, MPA (PP-45);

3.         Resolution No.238 moved by Mr Amir Sultan Cheema, MPA (PP-32); and

4.         Starred Questions No.7350 and 7862 asked by Dr Syed Waseem Akhtar, MPA (PP-271).

On a Motion moved by Mr. Inam Ullah Khan Niazi, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Transport for laying its report on “Starred Questions No.2338 and 7599 asked by Mian Tariq Mehmood, MPA (PP-113)”.

On a Motion moved by Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal, the House granted two months extension to the Standing Committee on Local Government & Community Development for laying its reports in respect of the following:

1.         Starred Question No.3158 asked by Mr Shahzad Munshi, MPA (NM-369); and

2.         Starred Question No.3620 asked by Dr Muhammad Afzal, MPA (PP-276).
