2.   LAYING OF SUPPLEMENTARY SCHEDULE OF AUTHORIZED EXPENDITURE FOR THE YEAR 2019-2020

 

            A MINISTER to lay the Supplementary Schedule of Authorized Expenditure for the year 2019-2020.

Fateha

 

The House offered Fateha on the sad demise of Prof. Dr. Khalid Chaudhry died due to COVID -19 and all those who died due to this pandemic disease including Doctors, Paramedics and General Public.

 

Discussion and Voting on Supplementary Demands for Grants 2019-2020:-

 

The Treasury presented 38 Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2019-20 and the Opposition submitted four cut motions against the budget allocated for Police, Health Services, State Trading in Foodgrains & Sugar and Roads & Bridges. Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, Minister for Finance moved Supplementary Demands for Grants as mentioned above for discussion. The said demands for grants were later voted upon and the Cut Motions moved by the Opposition Members were rejected with majority and the grants were passed.

 

The outstanding supplementary demands for grants were passed by the House in terms of Rule 144 (4) of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997.

 

Laying of the Supplementary Schedule of Authorized Expenditure for the year 2019-20.

 

Minister for Finance laid the Supplementary Schedule of Authorized Expenditure for the year 2019-20.

 

Sardar Usman Ahmed Khan Buzdar, Chief Minister Punjab delivered a concluding speech. He thanked and paid tribute to Mr Speaker, Assembly Members, Cabinet Members, Law Minister, Finance Minister and entire team. He said besides the onslaught of corona virus, the possibility of floods and locust attack was also anticipated. He maintained that the shaheed package was announced for those laying their lives during corona duties and Rs.106 billion had been earmarked for safety from the corona virus. He added that incentive package had been introduced for construction industry to arrange employment opportunities for the labourers and meanwhile, small taxes worth Rs.600 million had been abolished to create ease in business. He continued that Rs.23 billion would be spent on Punjab Cities Programme and another Rs.20 billion would be spent on 12 development projects to provide basic facilities in 16 small and medium cities of the Province. He apprised the House that 33 % funds had been allocated for Southern Punjab and Rs.1.5 billion were earmarked for Southern Punjab Secretariat. The posts of Additional Chief Secretary (South) and Additional IG (South) had been sanctioned and both would resume their duties from 01 July, 2020.

 

The Speaker then adjourned the House sine die.
