Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht, Minister for Finance, concluded discussion on budget. In his wind up speech, he thanked Members who participated in the discussion and media for highlighting salient features of the budget. He apprised the House that the current budget would kick start economy and it would strengthen the value of rupee. Moreover, it would improve exports and imports business and government was launching three schemes to improve SMEs. In his post budget speech, he added that policies would be devised for the revival of the industry and government planned to establish industrial estates in all the 36 districts of Punjab. For the Agriculture Sector, he said, attention was being paid to increase crops production that would eventually bring economic boost and for the reason, subsidy was being provided to the farmers.

Discussion and Voting on Demands for Grants for the Year 2019-2020

The treasury presented 41 Demands for grants and Opposition submitted five cut motions against the budget allocated for Health Services, Education, Agriculture, Housing & Physical Planning and Food. The Minister for Finance separately moved Demands for grants for Health Services and Education for the fiscal year 2019-2020, which were presented before the House for discussion.  They were later voted upon and the cut motions moved by the Opposition were rejected with majority and the grants were passed.

The House was then adjourned at 7:51 p.m. to meet on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.
