Consequent upon the advice of the Chief Minister, Punjab to the Governor of the Punjab under clause (1) of Article 112 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab stands dissolved on 14 January 2023 at 2210 hours at the expiration of forty-eight hours after the Chief Minister has so advised.
Begum Ishrat Ashraf wife of Ch. Muhammad Jaffar Iqbal was born on December 31, 1956 at Hyderabad and is a graduate. She served as Member, National Assembly for three terms during 1985-88, 2002-07 and 2008-13; functioned as Special Assistant to Prime Minister during 1997-99. She has extensively travelled abroad on official and personal visits. A politician, who has been elected as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in General Elections 2018 against one of the seats reserved for women and is functioning as Chairperson, Standing Committee on Zakat & Ushr. Her father, Ch. Muhammad Ashraf served as Senator during 1975-77. Her father-in-law, Ch Muhammad Iqbal Chailianwala remained Member Provincial Assembly of West Pakistan during 1962-65, 1965-69, Member Punjab Assembly during 1977; and Member National Assembly of Pakistan during 1985-88. Her husband, served as Member Punjab Assemby during 1988-90, 1990-93; functioned as Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab during 1989-90; as Provincial Minister for Health during 1990-93; as Member National Assembly during 1993-96 and functioned as Deputy Speaker, National Assembly during 1997-99; and as Senator during 2009-15. Her daughter, Mrs Zeb Jaffar, was Member of Punjab Assembly during 2008-13; as Member National Assembly during 2013-18 and is a sitting MNA. Her son, Mr Muhammad Omer Jaffar remained Member of Punjab Assembly during 2013-18. Her brother-in-law, Ch. Nasir Iqbal was Member of National Assembly during 1990-93.
