Ch Parvez Elahi son of Ch Manzoor Elahi was born on November 1, 1945. He graduated in 1967, and obtained diploma in Industrial Management from London. He comes of a distinguished political, social and industrial family. An industrialist, who served as Chairman, District Council Gujrat during 1983; and has continuously been serving as member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since 1985, having been elected for the sixth consecutive term in General Elections 2002 from two constituencies (PP-110 & PP-292). He functioned as Minister for Local Government and Rural Development during 1985-88, 1988-90 and 1990-93. He has served as Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly during 1993-96, and also acted as Leader of the Opposition. He has the honour to serve as Speaker of the Punjab Assembly during 1997-99. Now he is serving as Chief Minister Punjab since November 29, 2002.
